A Course in Miracles (ACIM) is a three-part compilation - the Text, the Workbook for Students, and the Manual for Teachers. Copyrighted in 1975 and published by the Foundation for Inner Peace in 1976, "the Course" is a collaboration of sorts between two doctors who at the time were both professors of Medical Psychology in the School of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University in New York City.
The Preface section, How It Came, of the Course says this about Dr. Helen and Dr. Bill:
It does not matter who they were, except that the story shows that with God all things are possible. They were anything but spiritual. Their relationship with each other was difficult and often strained, and they were concerned with personal and professional acceptance and status. In general, they had considerable investment in the values of the world. Their lives were hardly in accord with anything that the Course advocates.
Dr. Helen described a three month period prior to the inner dictation where she had numerous "highly symbolic dreams" with "strange images." Then, one day she wrote, "This is a course in miracles."
Helen explained:
That was my introduction to the Voice. It made no sound, but seemed to be giving me a kind of rapid, inner dictation which I took down in a shorthand notebook. The writing was never automatic. It could be interrupted at any time and later picked up again. It made me very uncomfortable, but it never seriously occurred to me to stop. It seemed to be a special assignment I had somehow, somewhere agreed to complete.
The Course is a compilation of readings and application exercises that arrive at one single teaching - Only Love is Real.
The Course defines a "miracle" as naturally occurring expressions of love stating, "... everything that comes from love is a miracle."
Miracles are thoughts. Thoughts can represent the lower or bodily level of experience, or the higher or spiritual level of experience. One makes the physical, and the other creates the spiritual.
Miracles are natural. When they do not occur something has gone wrong.
There is no order of difficulty in miracles. One is not "harder" or "bigger" than another. They are all the same. All expressions of love are maximal.
Welcome to your journey with A Course in Miracles.
Do you have any idea how many lives we must have gone through before we even got the first idea that there is more to life than eating, or fighting, or power in the Flock?
A thousand lives, Jon, ten thousand!
And then another hundred lives until we began to learn that there is such a thing as perfection, and another hundred again to get the idea that our purpose for living is to find that perfection and show it forth.

"I've learned and received much more understanding and love, as taught in, A Course in Miracles, from Andrea. She has a deep knowledge and wisdom that she brings to each class. I speak freely and sometimes question the lessons. She then surprises me, with her brilliant response, which, I never would have thought of. I always look forward to our meditations/visualizations, when she shares the dimension of Oneness, in many ways! She is a spiritual Joy." Peggy S.
"I have attended Andrea's A Course in Miracles session, and boy am I glad I did! Andrea is very intuitive in her work. We spent time both with the book and a guided meditation that came out of that discovery. I felt she had a framework within which she was working, and the flexibility to go where the energy took us so that the time could be as meaningful as possible. After the class I felt refreshed, heard, and nurtured, all of which led me into a very productive and peaceful rest of the day. It truly was the pause that refreshes." Suzanne K.
